Glen Oaks Community College’s men’s basketball team lost to host Jackson Wednesday 81-78 in Michigan Community College Athletic Association action.
The Vikings led multiple times in the contest but couldn’t hang on. Down by three points in the final seconds, Mike Barnfield’s potentially game-tying shot wasn’t out of his hands in time before the horn sounded.
“This is a cruel game sometimes,” Glen Oaks coach David Victor said. “I felt like we did enough things to win the game tonight, and we didn’t. I thought our effort was better. And aside from a dry spell from the floor in the second half, I thought we were getting the shots we wanted. We attacked (them) and put pressure on their D to make a play. We did all those things, and didn’t win. So we need to make sure our execution is better, our movement is better, and we need to do the things together that are going to get us over the top.”
David Miller led the Vikings with a game-high 23 points, while Elijah Malik added 16 points, and Mike Barnfield posted 15 points. Jaquantay Rouser and Adam Scott both chipped in 10 for the Vikings.
Glen Oaks will next be in action this Saturday when they host the Grand Rapids Community College Raiders. Tip-off is set for 3:00 pm.
The GOCC women fell to Jackson 68-49 to fall to 1-10 overall and 0-2 in the MCCAA Western Conference. No statistical information was reported.
