Glen Oaks basketball on Saturday played their final road games of the MCCAA Western Conference schedule at Southwestern Michigan College. The Viking men earned a 63-55 victory, while the GOCC women took a 58-52 loss. In both cases, Glen Oaks splits the season series with the Roadrunners.
In the men’s win, DeAndre Francis led the way offensively with 26 points. Daivion Boleware had a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. The full men’s box score can be found here. The win puts the Glen Oaks men at 12-14 overall and 6-5 in conference play, while SMC falls to 13-10 overall and 4-6 in conference play.
Statistics from the women’s game are currently unavailable, although they will be later posted at this link. The result puts the Vikings at 15-11 overall and 9-2 in conference play, tied for first with Kalamazoo Valley. Southwest Michigan moves to 16-8 overall and 6-4 in conference play.
Glen Oaks has qualified for the Great Lakes District Tournament for both men and women. The regular season closes Tuesday for the Vikings as they host Kalamazoo Valley. With the tie at the top of the standings, the 5:30 p.m women’s game against the Cougars will decide first place in the conference standings. The women meet at 5:30 p.m. with the men at 7:30 p.m.
