The Glen Oaks Community College basketball teams won their first round games Tuesday in the Great Lakes District tournaments. The GOCC men edged Southwestern Michigan College 78-75 and the Viking women won 69-64 against Lake Michigan College.
In the men’s game, Daivion Boleware led the offense for Glen Oaks with 27 points, going 11-14 from the field and 5-5 on three-pointers. Tylan Harris sank six three-pointers off the bench to score 20. Malik Tansmore added 11. The win puts the Viking men at 13-15 for the season.
The District A men’s tournament continues at the Ballenger Fieldhouse in Flint. The Viking men play against Bay College on Friday at 4:30 p.m. The championship is Sunday at 3 p.m.
Individual stats for the Glen Oaks women are currently unavailable. The win puts them at 16-12 for the year. The District B women’s tournament semifinal has Glen Oaks against Terra State Thursday at 8:30 p.m. The championship is Saturday at 6 p.m.
