The Glen Oaks baseball and softball teams had MCCAA Western Conference play for the first full week of April 2023. Viking softball went 3-1 and baseball went 2-2 in their Thursday, Friday, and Saturday games.
For the softball team on Friday, they defeated Marian University’s Ancilla 10-6 and 15-6 in a doubleheader. In game one, Olivia Teichman and Sierra Carpenter both had three hit games with a home run in there. In game two, Teichman homered twice and Sierra Smith homered with both posting three runs and four RBI in the game.
On Saturday, GOCC softball split a pair at Lake Michigan College. The Vikings won 9-4 in game one with Carpenter getting three hits, including a home run. The Red Hawks would take game two 12-6. Carpenter homered again in the defeat.
Glen Oaks softball is 7-7 in conference play and 8-12 overall. They return to action next weekend with trips to Kalamazoo Valley Friday and Lansing Saturday.
All four games for Viking baseball were against Ancilla. On the road Thursday, GOCC took game one 3-1 and lost game two 11-10. Landen Harris allowed four hits and one run in a complete game win in the first game. In the game two loss, Garrett Gumper had three runs on two hits and Jacob Boyd had two hits and three RBI.
In the rematch in Centreville Saturday, Glen Oaks won 11-1 in the first game and lost 7-5 in the second. In the win, Aaron Boyer allowed one run and six hits in a complete game win and Tyler Norris smacked a three-run home run. In game two, Harris doubled twice and singled, scoring twice.
Glen Oaks baseball is 3-6 in conference play and 6-14 overall. They travel to Lansing Thursday for two games, then host the Starts on Saturday.
