Gull Lake girls basketball ended the unbeaten season of Three Rivers Tuesday evening as the Blue Devils were a 73-49 home winner.
Like in Monday’s win against Plainwell, the Wildcats erased an early 10-point hole. TR was only down 29-26 at halftime, but eight quarters in two days and the lack of the injured Hadley Miller was too much to overcome versus a strong Gull Lake squad.
“I think mentally, physically, and emotionally we just wore down in the third and Gull Lake was able to take advantage,” said Three Rivers coach Jason Bingaman. “We had to on-the-fly make some changes over the past 24 hours and it will be nice to get a few days to regroup and recover so we can move forward.”
Leading the Blue Devils was Lizzie Margol with 17 points, followed by 13 from Ireland Watts and 11 by Mackenzie Ford. Kali Heivilin topped TR with 25 points and 10 rebounds.
Gull Lake moves to 5-5 overall and has a critical SMAC East game Friday at Lakeview as they try to stay alive in a competitive division race.
Three Rivers falls to 9-1 and gets some relief with a trip Friday to winless Dowagiac.
