Coldwater survived for an overtime 62-58 girls hoops win against Three Rivers Tuesday evening, needing to rally for a home win in extra time.
“We were on the wrong end of a good game tonight,” said TR head coach Jason Bingaman. “They were able to make a few more plays then us down the stretch and grabbed some big offensive rebounds down the stretch.”
After an even 27-27 first half, Three Rivers would enter the fourth quarter ahead by nine. Coldwater was able to chip away to force OT and eventually win the extra period 8-4.
“I’m proud of how hard we played and had some girls get some good experience with Kali (Heivilin) fouling out halfway through the the fourth,” said Bingaman. “We had our chances to hold our lead in the fourth but couldn’t covert free throws.”
Heivilin had a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. Alivia Knapp scored 20 for TR. Carley Crabtee led all players with 25 points for the Cardinals.
“Crabtree scored 15 of the first 16 for Coldwater,” noted Bingaman. “We switched Gabby (Charvat) on her and held her to eight the rest of the way.”
Three Rivers falls to 11-3 with the defeat and returns home against Otsego Thursday, which you can listen to live via JoeInsider.com.
