Pittsford’s varsity girls basketball team hosted Climax-Scotts Monday in a SCAA clash and picked up a 55-31 win over the visitors.
Climax-Scotts fell to 9-2 overall and 7-2 in the league.
“It was a disappointing night in a lot of ways, but there were also some good things to take away from the night,” Climax-Scotts coach Josh Vick said. “We simply did not play with composure to start the game. You can’t fall behind 16-0 to start and win. We talked after the game that if you take out the first quarter the score would’ve been 39-31. That’s a competitive game. We just can’t allow ourselves to start like that.
“That said, every quarter after the first was competitive. Both teams fought the entire game. The crowds were into it and so were the coaches. We didn’t make any major adjustments to get back into it. We just executed better on offense as the game went on. Defensively we have some things we need to shore up however. We also shot 6/24 from the free throw line. That certainly held us back. One bright spot was that Maddie Edwards was a beast for us tonight. She played with tenacity on both ends of the floor. I think she is solidifying as one of the best players in the league and tonight was one of her better performances.”
