Bloomingdale’s defense got the job done Friday, allowing only two White Pigeon touchdowns in a 24-17 Southwest 10 Conference road win in Week 7.
Nate Hagen scored both of those touchdowns for the Chiefs (3-4) as he finished with a team-high 86 rushing yards.
Bloomingdale (3-4) outscored White Pigeon 6-0 in the first quarter, but the Cardinals had only a field goal in the second frame. Hagen crossed the goal line in the second quarter but the conversion failed, and the Chiefs trailed 9-6 at intermission. Hagen scored again in the third quarter as White Pigeon trimmed the deficit to two points (16-14) before the start of the fourth quarter.
Bloomingdale tacked on another TD and a two-point conversion and held the Chiefs to a 22-yard Abraham Garcia field goal over the final 12 minutes.
Sebastian Castro rushed for 48 yards, Carlos Castro had 20 on the ground, Kam Garten ran for 12 and Austin Yoder had six for the Chiefs. Garten also completed 2 of 4 passing attempts for 25 yards. Sebastian Castro had a reception for 13 yards and Yoder had a catch for 12 yards.
No other offensive information was reported.
Austin Yoder led the Chiefs with eight tackles and a pass deflection, and Sebastian Castro, Dakota Conley, Mason Aumack and Dominic Solis finished with five stops apiece. Hagen forced a pair of fumbles with one recovery, and Yoder and Garten each forced one.
