Centreville eliminated two-time defending Division 8 football champion Reading 32-14 Friday night, keeping the Bulldogs unbeaten and giving them the school’s first-ever football district title.
All four Centreville touchdowns came on the ground with two by Mason Lemings and one each by Sam Todd and Gunner Bunning. Todd rushed for a team-high 141 yards while passing for 66.
Defensively, Tyler Swanwick grabbed two interceptions with another by Tristan McElroy. Reading had been averaging more than 40 per game when they had taken the field. Centreville has now allowed only 29 total points in eight contests.
The Bulldogs move to 8-0 with the win and will host next week’s regional championship against Sand Creek (8-1). Reading ends at 7-2.
