Buchanan erased a 10-point hole Monday evening for a 59-51 road win over Constantine, giving the Bucks the series sweep along with their 63-61 home win last month. Free throws played a huge role in the second half with Buchanan shooting an impressive 18-21 on the night and the Falcons hitting a lackluster 2-10.
The Falcons jumped out to an 18-10 lead by the end of the first quarter and held a 10-point advantage twice in the second quarter. The Bucks made it back within two late in the second, but a Kolin Jones triple in the final 30 seconds gave Constantine a 28-23 halftime lead. The third quarter stayed mostly within one-possession, but the Falcons remained ahead throughout and took a 43-36 score into the third quarter break.
From there, the Constantine offense went ice cold, scoring only two points within a seven minute stretch. Buchanan tied the game with about three minutes remaining and went ahead with 2:40 to go on free throws by Chris Young. He went 6-6 on foul shots in the final three minutes and scored 13 of their 23 fourth quarter points. The Bucks were 10-11 on free throws in the final minutes, stifling any comeback hopes for Constantine.
Young led all players with 24 points, including a perfect 9-9 at the line. Jones had 17 off the bench to lead the Falcons, going 4-8 on three-pointers.
The win moves Buchanan to 4-6 on the season. Ahead for the Bucks is a trip to BCS-Red foe Berrien Springs Friday evening.
Constantine falls to 5-5 overall and travels to SAC Valley rival Lawton Friday.
