ST. XAVIER PRESS RELEASE:

Joliet, Ill. – Five straight double-doubles, including two this past week, have earned Saint Xavier University junior forward Morgan Stuut (Marcellus, Mich./Three Rivers) her fifth Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honor for the current season when it was announced by the conference office on Tuesday.  For the week, Stuut averaged 22.5 points, 17.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 2.5 steals and 2.0 blocks per game.  She also was clutch at the free-throw line converting 16 of her 18 attempts.

Stuut just missed notching her second triple-double of the season last Wednesday when the No. 8 ranked Cougars knocked off Trinity Christian College, 60-49.  In that game, she totaled 12 points, 17 rebounds, nine assists, four steals and three blocks.  Three days later, she hit for 33 points, 17 rebounds and three assists in an 82-67 victory over Indiana University-South Bend (IUSB) on Saturday.  That double-double was her 13th of the season and eighth in nine games.

Besides her team ranking in the top 10 nationally, Stuut herself ranks in the top 10 as well in five categories highlighted by her nation-leading 230 total rebounds.  She also ranks second in rebounds per game (12.8), sixth in total points (367), ninth in three-point accuracy (.443) and tenth in points per game (20.4).  A winner of 10 straight games, SXU is 15-3 overall and 6-1 in league play.

Saint Xavier continues its season on Wednesday, January 15, with a non-conference game against Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT).  The game is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start at Bob Hallberg Court in the Shannon Center in Chicago.
