It’s another week, but the same story for the Edwardsburg defense. It held another opponent scoreless. This time it was a step up from the competition the first two weeks. Paw Paw traveled to Edwardsburg to take on the Eddies and the Eddies were ready for the test.
Edwardsburg’s opening drive was its longest of the season. An 11 play drive ended in a 6yd touchdown run by Caden Goggins. The Redskins defense was strong on the first drive causing Edwardsburg to convert a fourth down. Paw Paw’s opening drive ended in a three and out. Chase Sager was active for the Eddies rushing attack, and on his third carry, he took it 71 yards to the end zone giving Edwardsburg a 14-0 lead.
The Eddies continued their dominance in the second quarter by putting up another 20 points. Goggins scored again, and Sager twice more. The final score of the night came from Bryce Blue who was playing tight defense in the secondary when he stepped in front of a Mason Popp pass and ran it 26 yards to the pylon for 6 more Edwardsburg points.
The final score at Leo Hoffman field was 41-0. Edwardsburg had 327 yards of offense again, while the Redskins mustered 100 yards of offense. Paw Paw was led on the ground by Connor Hood who had 2 carries for a total of 34 yards. Popp was 4/10 passing for 23 yards.
Next week the Eddies will travel north to take on the 2-1 Dowagiac Chieftains, while the Paw Paw Redskins will face South Haven.
