Howardsville Christian won 59-39 over Burr Oak in District 116 semifinal boys basketball play from Mendon. The win gives the Eagles a shot at a third consecutive district title Friday against Colon.
HCS sank 10 three-pointers en route to their victory, getting six and 24 total points from Jason Jergens. Armondo Beverly led the Bobcats with 15 points.
“Tonight was not one of our better performances, step slow on defense every time and struggled on the offensive end at times,” said Eagles coach Justin Jergens despite the win. “Need to be more aggressive attacking the basket, definitely need to play better Friday.”
Burr Oak finishes with a 4-17 record and graduates seniors Dustin Musall, Ethan Grubb, and Ethan Holloman.
