Trailing by only four points with four minutes to play, Constantine’s boys basketball team simply made too many mistakes down the stretch Friday in a 48-36 loss at Delton-Kellogg.
“[We] shot poorly although our shot selection was good,” Constantine coach Chuck Frisbie said. “Gave up too many layups and second-chance rebounds and did a poor job stopping penetration from their guards.”
Cody Ley finished with 10 points, nine rebounds, two assists and three steals to lead Constantine, which are 0-9 overall and 0-8 in the Kalamazoo Valley Association. Perry White posted nine points, two assists and three steals, Anthony Bontrager added eight points, four assists and a swipe, Luhk Mullendore registered seven points, Austin Kinser chipped in two points and Joey Steiner finished with an assist and two steals.
The Falcons, which committed 15 turnovers, were 4-of-26 shooting from 3-point land and 11-of-25 from inside the arc.
Landon Grizzle tossed in 16 points and Jeff Minehart had 12 for Delton (6-6, 4-6).
