Mendon, Centreville, and Colon were among the schools who competed in Saturday’s Mendon Invitational cross country meet. The Bulldogs were the only St. Joseph county school to record a team score, taking fourth in both genders with an 104 boys mark and 63 girls mark.
Colon’s Macey Burgess was the highest placer with a second place girls time of 22:09.26. Centreville’s Autumn Major took third at 22:32.08 and Mendon’s Amber Hostetler was eighth at 23:17.92. On the boys side, Logan Weis of the Bulldogs placed fifth at 18:49.75 and Tucker Lafler of the Magi snagged ninth at 19:17.70.
Sturgis was also in action Saturday as part of the massive 53rd Holly/Duane Raffin Festival of Races hosted by Holly High School. The Trojan boys placed 14th and the girls 11th in the team scores. Individually, the top Sturgis boy was Matt Toner, taking 22nd at a time of 17:38.6. Nathalie Garcia Ruiz was the girls leader for the Trojans getting 67th at 30:08.3.
Three Rivers also competed at Friday’s MSU Spartan Invitational. In the bronze division, the Wildcats had the sixth place boys team score and 19th best girls score. The fastest Three Rivers boy was Javier Kelley-Martinex with a 35th place 17:51.0. Anezka Pradna led the girls team with a 52nd place time of 22:22.2.
