Constantine football coach Shawn Griffith was honored Tuesday as the Detroit Lions Michigan High School Football Coach of the Week. Each week, one coach is recognized “that best demonstrates success on and off the field, develops players’ character, discipline, and football skill in addition to emphasizing player health and safety in their program.” Selected coaches also earn a $1,500 donation to their team’s program.
Last week, Griffith’s Falcons defeated Kalamazoo United 43-28 to clinch a share of the SAC Lakeshore division title. It was also Griffith’s 130th win in his 16 seasons as Falcons head coach, surpassing Tim Baker for the most wins in school history. Constantine (4-1) looks to secure the division title outright Friday as they host Coloma (4-1).
