The Falcons went 2-0-1 in pool play before eventually falling to Whiteford 18-25, 15-25 in the semifinals of the Homer tournament Saturday. Constantine beat Tekonsha 25-4, 25-12 and Reading 25-17, 25-14. The team split with Whiteford to finish pool play and went on to defeat White Pigeon 24-26, 25-8, 15-4 in the quarterfinals.
Jessica Mallo made the all-tournament team with 20 kills, an assist, two aces, 11 digs and 12 blocks. Zoe Jones registered 26 and 34 digs, Lexie Harrison posted 27 kills and 47 digs, Kelsey Potter added 24 digs, Danica Lucas recorded 26 kills and nine aces, Cassie Wentela finished with 84 assists, 11 aces and 22 digs, Michelle Smith contributed 18 digs and Jordan Smith had five kills.
“Overall we had a great day, especially in pool play,” Constantine coach Niki Tulley said. “The girls played really tough as a team and played with a lot of passion and confidence today. “Our powerful offense is shining through again, along with scrappy defense. We are excited to carry this through for our last few league games and districts.”
White Pigeon knocked off Burr Oak 25-6, 25-13 and split with Homer and Camden-Frontier in pool play.
Bethany Hagner had 27 kills and 24 digs, Rachel Brock added nine aces and 20 digs, Danielle Chantrenne produced 22 kills and 19 digs, Skyler DeMeyer registered 52 assists and 24 digs, Sydney Harmon posted 15 kills, six aces and 30 digs and Kathrina Hagner finished with 12 kills and five blocks.
