Constantine’s volleyball got a shot in the arm after a gritty, four-set win over Battle Creek Pennfield Wednesday night. The Falcons went on the road and picked up their 11th win of the year and improved to 3-0 in the Kalamazoo Valley Association.
Winning the first game 25-23, Constantine dropped the second set 17-25. The Falcons eked out 25-21 and 25-23 victories to close out the match. Jessica Mallo led the team with 13 kills, and she added 12 digs and three blocks. Lexie Harrison had 14 digs and 10 kills, Danica Lucas added 11 digs and Cassie Wentela claimed 27 assists.
“This was a huge win for us tonight,” Constantine coach Niki Tulley said. “Pennfield is always a powerhouse in the KVA. I’m most proud of the fact that this group of girls just plays hard, no matter who is on the other side of the net. We passed beautiful in serve receive, which really sets a tone and gives the girls the feeling of control on our side of the net. “We continue to focus on one point at a time, one game at a time.”
