Constantine’s volleyball team dropped to 3-1 in the Kalamazoo Valley Association after a five-set heartbreaker at Kalamazoo Christian Wednesday. The Comets eked out a 25-18, 18-25, 23-25, 15-13 win to climb back to .500 in the league (2-2).
“Tonight was one of the most intense games of volleyball we have played,” Falcons coach Niki Tulley said. “All of these girls stepped up and battled all night long. We just let K-Christian have a few too many runs at crucial moments, and it cost us the game. Our defensive game was much tougher tonight, but we had moments of hesitation and stopped attacking the ball.”
Danica Lucas had 13 kills, 30 digs and a pair of aces, Lexie Harrison chipped in nine kills, 20 digs and three aces, Jessica Mallo posted 14 kills, 15 digs and a block, Cassie Wentela registered 40 assists and three aces and Kelsey Potter finished with 17 digs. Zoe Jones added seven kills and four digs, Jordan Smith contributed six kills and three digs and Michelle Smith had eight digs.
