With only a hiccup in the third set, Constantine’s varsity volleyball team defended its home court Wednesday with a 3-1 win over Kalamazoo Hackett Catholic Central. The Falcons fended off the pesky Fighting Irish 25-11, 25-17, 20-25 and 25-19.
“Hackett was a scrappy team that played tough until the end,” Constantine coach Niki Tulley said. “Our girls need to work on keeping the intensity throughout the night. Our serve receive is our strength, and we need to focus more on utilizing our passing game by attacking more aggressively.”

Lexi Harrison was one of four Constantine (4-1 KVA) players to swing for at least 10 kills. She finished with a team-high 13 kills and added eight digs and three blocks. Jessica Mallo posted 11 kills, two blocks, four digs and a pair of aces, Danica Lucas added 10 kills, 19 digs and two aces, Zoe Jones had eight kills and an ace, Jordan Smith contributed four kills, a block and a dig, Cassie Wentela recorded a whopping 43 assists and four aces, Michelle Smith registered eight digs and Kelsey Potter chipped in 10 digs.
“Our defense kept us in the game when Hackett started gaining momentum and their hitters started attacking the ball,” Tulley said. “We served aggressively throughout the night, which gave us an edge in the fourth game. “Our hitters were smart tonight, seeing through the net and finding the holes on their court.”
