Comstock edges Three Rivers softball in two games

April 17, 2014 By Wes Morgan

The Three Rivers softball team fell a run short in both games of a Wolverine Conference doubleheader Wednesday at home, falling 5-4 and 4-3 against Comstock.

Madi Cornish took the loss in Game 1 after giving up eight hits and two earned runs. She struck out six batters over seven innings.

Anna Ochsenrider had three hits and one RBI, and Molly Howkins, Taylor Schultz, Brittany Klinger, Emma Conroy, Teagan Reeves and Kayla Turner (double) each had a hit for the Wildcats. Turner also had a stolen base.

Teah Mayer was in the circle for Game 2 and she had two strikeouts, walked five batters and gave up three earned runs. Reeves entered the game in the fourth inning when Comstock held a 3-1 lead. She collected four strikeouts, walked two and allowed one run.
“Even though we suffered two very tough losses tonight, I am extremely proud of my group of girls,” Three Rivers coach Kendra Kutz said. “They all played very hard and did not give up when we were down. They maintained their composure extremely well and brought us right back into both games but unfortunately we fell just short in the seventh inning.”
