The 2023 MHSAA competitive cheer district meets were held over the weekend with the top four placing squads in each group advancing to regionals. From St. Joseph County, Sturgis earned a trip to the next round.
In District 7-2 at Thornapple Kellogg, the Trojans placed third with a total score of 708.08. The host TK took first at 740.26 with Plainwell second at 731.56, followed by Sturgis and then Gull Lake at 704.24.
The Trojans advance to Regional #3 at Grand Rapids Kenowa Hills next Saturday starting at 10 a.m.
Three Rivers competed in District 13-3 at Paw Paw Saturday. The Wildcats placed 10th out of 13 schools with a 615.88 final score. The hosting Red Wolves were first at 768.86, advancing along with Parchment, Hopkins, and Hastings.
White Pigeon participated in District 19-4 at Bronson. The Chiefs ended up eighth in a 12 team field with a 581.70 final tally. Lawton took first at 709.44, followed by Buchanan, Coloma, and Delton Kellogg.
