Colon’s girls basketball team is on to the Class D district finals after Wednesday’s 27-24 victory over Marcellus at Burr Oak.
Rallying back from an 18-12 halftime deficit, the Magi held Marcellus to just 10 second-half points. Anessa Broker delivered four of her team-high nine points in the third quarter according to the official scorebook.
“The girls played a very good game,” Colon coach Sharon Craun said. “It was very close the entire game. It was a great effort from all of the girls. I am so proud of all them.”
Makayla Craun finished with eight points, 14 rebounds, a pair of steals and four blocks. Taya Bower contributed five points, three boards and two assists, and Ashleigh Wolf and Kali Tyler both had two points.
Morgan Czajkowski added five rebounds, an assist and a free throw.
The Magi square off against Athens, which beat Marcellus Howardsville Christian 60-24, in Friday’s finals.
