The Colon girls basketball went scoreless in the first quarter of Friday night’s Class D district tournament championship. Things didn’t get a whole lot better for the Magi the rest of the way either.
Athens jumped all over the Magi early and often, cruising to a lopsided 51-14 title-winning victory at Burr Oak High School.
Colon was unable to muster any points in the first quarter of play, falling into a 15-0 hole that would balloon to a 37-4 deficit at halftime.
Alley Fuller and Allysha Beal powered Athens in the first half, combining to score 18 of their team’s 37.
Meanwhile, Anessa Broker was the leading lady for Colon, tallying seven points off of three field goals, including one from behind the long line. Makayla Craun added five points for the Magi while Skylar Harvey chipped in with four.
Both Ashleigh Wolf and Gretta Minor had a point for Colon.
The Magi concluded their season with a record of 4-18.
