In Saturday’s 8-Player Division 1 football Pre-Regional game at Colon, the host Magi throttled Camden-Frontier 60-12, improving to 10-0 this season and setting up a regional championship game with fellow unbeaten Martin next week in the next step towards the Superior Dome. Martin defeated Bellevue 28-0.
It was a four-touchdown day by Brandon Crawford, who ran for scores of 11, three, 40 and five yards to finish with 109 rushing yards on 13 carries (8.4 average). Jonathan West scored a touchdown to finish with eight carries for 103 yards, Phillip Alva carried the ball five times for 40 yards and a TD, and Kaleb Johnson had 31 yards and a score on six touches.
Alva completed 6 of 9 passing attempts for 139 yards, which included a 61-yard TD pass to Austin Stoll. West added three receptions for 35 yards, Crawford had a 38-yard catch and Brayden Ireland added a five-yard reception.
In total, the Magi racked up 417 yards of total offense while holding Camden-Frontier to 247.
Robert Wickey and Mason Paliga came up with fumble recoveries for Colon and Stoll picked off one pass to go with six tackles. Johnson and Ian Eells led the team with nine tackles apiece, Caiden Carver and Wickey added seven stops each, and Stoll had six tackles. Also registering tackles for the Magi were Justin Miller (four), Chris Frye (three), Crawford (three), Grayson Riethmiller (three), Kodie Fields (two), West (two), Paliga (two), Alex Stoll (1), Connor Hetman (one), Justin Wickey (one) and La Wayne Wickey (one).
