The Colon volleyball team adapted to some personnel switches at the Union City Invitational Saturday. The Magi split with Reading 17-25, 26-24, Marshall Academy 25-16, 19-25 and Quincy 27-26, 11-25 in pool play to finish second in their group. They advanced to the semifinals and were defeated by Jackson Christian 21-25, 27-29.
Tallison Wilson racked up 32 kills, 5 blocks, 5 aces; Isabel Vigil contributed 18 kills, 5 aces; Sarah Hutson added 11 kills, 4 blocks, and 8 aces; ColeAnna Clemens rounded out 58 assists and 5 aces; while Bailey Fisher had 42 assists and 4 aces and tallied up 19 service points total. Our leading defenders include Bailey Clipfell, Isabel Vigil and Tallison Wilson.
“We performed well today considering the fact that we learned a new lineup yesterday due to one of our starters having to show livestock at the fair [Saturday],” Colon coach Crystal Delp said. “We missed a few serves during critical moments in the game and we played too safe at the net again when scores got close. We are looking forward to having a week and half off after our game Tuesday night at Hillsdale to work through some of these issues.”
