Colon ends Union City invite in semis

September 15, 2013 By Wes Morgan

The Colon volleyball team adapted to some personnel switches at the Union City Invitational Saturday. The Magi split with Reading 17-25, 26-24, Marshall Academy 25-16, 19-25 and Quincy 27-26, 11-25 in pool play to finish second in their group. They advanced to the semifinals and were defeated by Jackson Christian 21-25, 27-29.

Tallison Wilson racked up 32 kills, 5 blocks, 5 aces; Isabel Vigil contributed 18 kills, 5 aces; Sarah Hutson added 11 kills, 4 blocks, and 8 aces;  ColeAnna Clemens rounded out 58 assists and 5 aces; while Bailey Fisher had 42 assists and 4 aces and tallied up 19 service points total.  Our leading defenders include Bailey Clipfell, Isabel Vigil and Tallison Wilson.

“We performed well today considering the fact that we learned a new lineup yesterday due to one of our starters having to show livestock at the fair [Saturday],” Colon coach Crystal Delp said.  “We missed a few serves during critical moments in the game and we played too safe at the net again when scores got close.  We are looking forward to having a week and half off after our game Tuesday night at Hillsdale to work through some of these issues.”
