Colon’s 2022 baseball season came to an end in Thursday’s regional semifinal, falling at Decatur 8-1. The Raiders added four more in the third, followed by single runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Colon’s lone run came in the bottom of the fifth when Justin Wickey tripled, bringing home Kaleb Bissett. Wickey had two of the five Magi hits. Josh West and Scott Frye both doubled and Bissett had a single.
Maverick Downs was Colon’s starting pitcher and went two innings, allowing four hits, six runs (four earned), with one strikeout and one walk. West pitched the remaining five innings, allowing three hits, two runs (one earned) with nine strikeouts.
Brandon Bruno started for Decatur, striking out seven and allowing one hit over three innings. Landon Rose allowed three hits and the lone Magi run over three innings of relief and Zach Wiggins had one scoreless inning in relief. Bruno led the Raider offense with a triple, double, and single for two RBI and two runs.
