The Three Rivers boys basketball team went toe-to-toe with host Coloma on Friday night, but came up on the short end, dropping the contest 56-45.
The Comets methodically built on their lead throughout all four quarters of the game after leading by just a couple points after the first. The teams went into the break with Coloma leading 29-19 in the Wolverine Conference West Division match-up.
Alex Cottingham led the way for the Wildcats with 12 points. He was 6-for-12 from the field before fouling out. Adam Reed drained Three Rivers’ only two 3-pointers of the night on his way to 10 points.
Cam Cottingham and Trenton Karle both filled in nicely with eight points apiece. Unfortunately for the Wildcats, they were only able to get to the free throw line eight times in the contest while Coloma had 23 free tries.
The trips to the charity stripe that Three Rivers did manage were worth it — the Wildcats drained all but one of their attempts.
Elijah Hamilton and Kyle Walczak also contributed on offense in the losing effort, scoring four and three points respectively.
