Centreville’s volleyball team lost at Athens Thursday in four games. The Bulldogs were edged 25-22 in the first set, won the second 25-23 but ran out of steam over the final two games (13-25, 20-25).
Jenna Beeker served three aces, Madison Hunter had 25 assists, Mattie Kirby polished off 11 kills and Bailee May and Sam Lewis registered seven kills for Centreville, which heads to the Concord Tournament Saturday. May also had 13 digs and Beeker had 22.
“We played well at times tonight but still struggle at becoming mentally tough in the moments when things aren’t working,” Bulldogs coach Melissa Gales said. “We hit well and served with toughness. I challenge the girls to work on the their intensity and emotional game play.”
