The Bulldogs had lost their previous two games by a combined eight points, so head coach Corey Smith was obviously thrilled to finish this one strong.
Eli Schwartz and Jon Peckinpaugh both scored 12 points for Centreville, DeMarco Taylor had 11, and Chase Alexander and Matt Clementz posted 10 apiece. Kalvin Ludwig added three and Alex Stafford had one.
Peckinpaugh also had 11 rebounds, Clementz recorded nine boards, Alexander paced the squad with five steals and Taylor passed out four assists.
“Good game tonight from both teams,” he said. “We mixed our defense to keep Bronson off balance. Our shots started falling early, giving our kids confidence as the game went on. We had a very balanced attack tonight. Hitting the boards was a priority for us. We ended the game with 40 rebounds and 13 were offensive. We were patient but deliberate on the defensive side of the ball. Our kids wanted to leave it on the floor as they did.”
Centreville is now 5-7 overall and 2-2 in the SJV. Bronson fell to 0-12 this season and 0-2 in the league.
The Bulldogs compiled a 34-25 lead after two quarters of play and fought off a balanced Bronson offense, which featured four players with eight or more points.
