QUINCY – The softball team at Centreville seems to be warming up now that the weather has turned warmer.
The Bulldogs had two close games against nonleague foe Quincy, but came away with a pair of victories by the scores of 8-4 and 9-7 on Thursday.
In the first game, Sarah Rice had the hot hand with two triples and she also was the winning pitcher, striking out five. Charity Yeager and Kaiti Happel each had three singles for the winners. Yeager also drove in a pair of runs.
Rice turned it up even more in the second game, driving in three runs with a single and two doubles. Catherine Rigby notched a single, two doubles and two RBIs. Yeager, Dezarae Marshall and Emily Anderson each added two singles.
Rigby went the distance on the mound to earn the victory, striking out two.
‘’It was a great effort by all the team members,’’ Centreville coach Bill Balk said. ‘’Strong leadership and support helped seal the wins in both games.’’
