The boys basketball season continued for both Centreville and Colon with regional semifinal wins for both teams on Monday. For the Bulldogs, they defeated Lawton 55-40. For the Magi, they earned a 57-52 win over Lawrence.
Centreville improves to 18-7 with the win and Lawton closes at 14-11. The Bulldogs now face Niles Brandywine in Wednesday’s championship game at 7 p.m. from Coloma. The Bobcats (23-2) beat Hackett Catholic 58-42 on the other side of the bracket. If Centreville wins, it would earn them their first quarterfinal appearance since 1995.
Colon is 18-7 with their win and Lawrence closes at 14-11. The Magi meet Kalamazoo Phoenix in the championship Wednesday at 7 p.m. from Bellevue. The Fury (16-2) topped Eau Claire 78-68 in the other semifinal game. Colon has only once made it to the state quarterfinal, all the way back in 1947.
