Marcellus Howardsville Christian’s Justin Jergens piled up 38 points to lead the Eagles to a 59-43 home win Monday over Centreville.
The sharpshooting Jergens connected on four 3-pointers and outscored the Bulldogs 8-7 at the foul line.
Chase Lebarre led Centreville (3-5) with 12 points and a co-team-high six rebounds. DeMarco Taylor scored seven points, Matt Clements (three assists) and Eli Schwartz finished with six points and Kalvin Ludwig (six boards) posted five. Jon Peckinpaugh registered four points and Chase Alexander added three points and three assists.
“We started out strong with good, tight defense,” Centreville coach Corey Smith said. “Couldn’t stop the penetration of Jergens. Our defense lightened up in the fourth quarter and Howardsville took advantage. They were able to capitalize on turnovers and they made three throws.”
