The Capital City Capitals pounded Portage Northern 6-0 in Thursday’s SCHSHL crossover hockey game at Wings West. It’s the second win for the Capitals this year against the Huskies, joining a 6-2 victory in the Jenison tournament last month.
Mason’s Ethan Bond delivered a hat-trick, scoring both first period goals and the lone second period goal shorthanded. Daniel Bendele, Logan Anderson, and Anderson Young each scored in the third period. Bendele ended with three points, also assisting two of Bond’s goals. Young’s tally was his first varsity goal.
Lansing Catholic’s Janek Levandowski posted his second shutout of the season, unofficially making 16 saves. PN’s Peter Todd and Abram Roseboom combined for 21 stops.
Portage Northern drops to 4-8-1 with the defeat and travels north Saturday to face Lowell/Caledonia. Capital City moves to 7-4-1 and plays Mattawan Friday at Suburban Ice in East Lansing.
