A steady North Adams-Jerome girls basketball team built an 11-point lead in the first half on its way to a 41-26 victory over visiting Burr Oak.
The Bobcats (1-1) were led by Jade Lown’s 10 points and six each from Tori Everitt and Jade Summey. Sydney Owens and Hannah Root both scored a point and Michaela Ultz added a bucket.
“The girls came out strong and played a good first half,” Burr Oak coach Jen Sutton said. “In the second half we were in foul trouble quickly. My girls play with a lot of heart and emotion and we will take this game as a lesson to rise above things we cannot control. North Adams is a strong and aggressive team with a supportive home crowd.”
