Burr Oak broke through Friday for its first victory of the 2018 football season, claiming a 32-22 win on the road in Week 4 against Litchfield.
The Bobcats were steady offensively, scoring eight points in each quarter, led by a pair of touchdown passes by Matthew Greene and two rushing TDs by Colt Anderson. Damion Ultz and Dennis Currier each caught a TD pass.
“Offensively, we looked dominant on our first drive, punching the ball in on Anderson’s first touchdown run of the night,” Burr Oak coach Ryan Stephens said. “After that, we struggled the rest of the game with missed blocks, penalties, and miscues. Our offense is going to have get better if we are going to beat a big and physical Waldron next week”
It was the defense, Stephens said, that made all the difference.
“We had many red zone stops in the second half with four players that had a handful of tackles throughout the night,” he explained. “Ultz, Hahn, and Greene all had a big night on defense with some big plays to help Burr Oak seal the deal. Damion had a 65-yard interception in the fourth quarter to set up the Bobcats’s last touchdown on Anderson’s 25-yard TD run.
“Hahn provided much needed pressure on the quarterback from the left side defensive end with three sacks on the night. Greene blocked two punts up the middle on middle linebacker blitzes. I couldn’t be happier with how our defense played only giving up a few big plays.”
