Burr Oak boys win at Tekonsha

February 15, 2014 By Joe Insider Staff Report

Burr Oak applied pressure early and never eased up in a 64-40 boys basketball win Friday at Tekonsha.

The Bobcats were outscored 13-8 at the foul line but won the battle on the glass 31-18. An 11-4 lead after the first quarter increased to 27-15 by the halftime break.

Kenny Walston knocked down 4 of 5 attempts from behind the arc to finish with a game-high 24 points for Burr Oak, which improved to 11-5 overall and 8-5 in the SCAA.

Brent Everitt (10 rebounds) kicked in 11 points for a double-double and Christian Eckert finished with 10 for the Bobcats, which produced 31 team rebounds. The Bobcats also featured scoring contributions from Chantz Owens (six), Logan Mount (four), James Saylor (three), Justin Mullins (three), Coley Summey (two) and Alex Munoz (one).

Eckert led the squad with four assists.

“We played hard tonight off another back-to-back contest,” coach Dave Brackett said. “We did what we wanted to and came out of Tekonsha with a win. It wasn’t our best play of the year but it worked. We need to clean our play up the next two weeks going into the final stretch and playoffs.”
