At this time of year a basketball team will take a win anyway it can get it. Although Burr Oak head coach Dave Brackett said the Bobcats’ 48-31 victory over Calhoun Christian Tuesday, his program is now 13-5.
Shooting 50 percent from the field, Chantz Owens paced Burr Oak with 23 points. He was responsible for six of the team’s 32 rebounds — 12 more than the opposition.
Christian Eckert (two steals) scored 10 points, James Saylor finished with five, Logan Mount had four to go with 11 boards, Brent Everitt (two blocks) also had four points and Kenny Walston chipped in two points on top of three steals.
“We didn’t play well tonight but we come out with the victory,” Brackett said. “Our defense was sluggish all night and we were chasing way to much. We have to clean up our play going into Thursday night and into the playoffs. We pulled away in the second quarter and played the quarter I would like to play the whole game.”
The Bobcats outscored Calhoun Christian 17-4 in the second frame to take a 16-point lead into intermission.
