Unable to maintain the same level of energy that propelled it to a 23-18 lead after the first quarter, the Centreville boys basketball team fell against the Kalamazoo Cougars, 65-53, Monday on the road.
Grant Garrison netted a game-high 24 points for Kalamazoo, which now has a 2-2 record. Teammates Ben Schubkel (18) and Josiah Brown (13) also reached double figures in support. Garrison added 10 rebounds and Brown posted eight boards and three blocks.
Chase Alexander led the Bulldogs ( 1-2) with 16 points, followed by Jon Peckinpaugh with 15 and Matt Clementz with 10. Both Alexander and Peckinpaugh drilled four 3-pointers in the effort.
“We didn’t bring any intensity tonight,” Centreville coach Corey Smith said. “The Cougars are a well coached team.”
Centreville is back on its home court Wednesday against Battle Creek St. Philip.
