Centreville slipped to 1-5 this season after a 41-24 loss at Bronson (2-5) to finish the St. Joseph Valley League portion of the slate. The Bulldogs went 0-3 in conference play and the Vikings were 1-2 in the final year of the SJV.
Bronson took a 13-0 lead in the first quarter before Centreville’s Zach Teadt scored on a 21-yard run with just under 10 minutes to play in the second frame. The Vikings fired back a minute later with a Kyle Roberts 1-yard run. Mykal Kline connected with Daniel McMichael on a six-yard scoring pass to give the host team a 23-6 lead at the break.
Zach Bauman got free on a 30-yard TD run early in the third quarter and Demarco Taylor bolted to a 70-yard score to cut the deficit to 27-18 and give the Bulldogs new life. Bronson regained momentum with a 51-yard passing touchdown at the 9:27 mark in the fourth quarter.
Bauman kept Centreville alive with a 59-yard scoring run less than two minutes later, but Bronson sealed the win with a 66-yard run with six minutes to play.
Bauman carried the ball 15 times for 116 yards, and Taylor rushed 11 times for 104 yards for Centreville.
