The Viking men must win against the first-place Jayhawks for any chance at a postseason berth, meanwhile the Glen Oaks women are out of the running. Originally set for Wednesday, these games were pushed back a day due to inclement weather.
Two spots remain in play for the Great Lakes West District tournament with four teams in the mix. Kalamazoo Valley and Grand Rapids are both 7-10 in MCCAA Western Conference play and face each other Wednesday, meaning the winner will advance. The loser could end up tied with Glen Oaks and Jackson, both at 6-11. The Jets end with last place Lake Michigan College.
Even if the tiebreakers favor the Vikings, upsetting conference champion Muskegon is a daunting task, The Jayhawks are a perfect 17-0 in league play and 22-4 overall. Glen Oaks holds a 14-14 record, dropping their first meeting at Muskegon 109-81.
In the women’s game, Muskegon enters at 23-3 overall and 15-2 atop the conference standings. The Vikings are 12-16 overall and 4-13 in league play. The Jayhawks won the first meeting 57-38.
