Listen live Saturday at 1 p.m. ET via JoeInsider.com as Colon hosts Martin in an eight-player football regional championship game. Both teams enter at 10-0 with a trip to the Division 1 semifinal awaiting for the victor against defending state champion Morrice.
The Magi made it to the semifinal last year in their first-ever eight-player season. In 2019, Colon has crushed everyone they’ve faced with wins by 34 or more points each week. The Magi have scored 52.2 points per game while allowing only 3.8 thus far. They opened postseason play with a 60-12 win last Saturday against Camden-Frontier.
The Clippers are newcomers to the eight-player ranks this season and have adapted well with their 10-0 start. Martin has scored 38.6 points per game with 10.8 allowed this season. Their playoff path opened with a 28-0 win against Bellevue last week, showing noticeable gains from their 20-12 week one encounter with the Broncos.
Colon and Martin have only played once ever in football, as Martin won a 2001 encounter 28-0. A Magi win would give them the most they’ve ever had in a season, previously getting to 10 last year and in 2009. The Clippers are in the midst of only their second season with double-digit wins, along with their 12-1 state championship 1987 campaign.
