Centreville’s girls basketball team bolted out to an 8-0 lead after the first quarter Thursday but couldn’t hold on at Bridgman, which outscored the Bulldogs 27-10 in the second half for a 36-32 victory.
Bailee May scored 16 points and secured 15 rebounds for Centreville, which dropped to 1-3 this season. Faith Morell added six points, Madison Hunter contributed four points, five rebounds, three steals and two blocks, Jenna Beeker posted three points and three assists and Mattie Kirby added three points and three steals.
“Tonight we had moments of greatness; holding a team scoreless for an entire quarter is a great feat,” Centreville coach Jill Peterson said. “Bridgman made some good adjustments and we struggled with the changes late in the game. It’s encouraging as a coach to see the progress we are making and the strides we are taking to make improvements. I’m excited for this team and the potential they will reach throughout this season.”
