Mendon won 59-46 against Tekonsha in Wednesday’s boys basketball District #120 semifinal game at Colon.
“Figured out a way to win tonight,” said Mendon coach Danny Schragg. “Definitely didn’t play our best basketball, but we made some huge effort plays that really helped us tonight.”
The Hornets move to 11-13 for the season and Tekonsha closes at 13-10.
“Slow first half, but we were able to take the lead into the half and we came out and a huge third quarter to build a solid lead,” said Schragg. “Jack (McCaw) had some huge steals and layups for us in the second hand and Owen (Gorham) had two or three huge loose ball plays to keep us alive offensively. Our effort won us this game tonight.”
Mendon faces Colon in the championship game Friday at 7 p.m. at Colon. The Magi defeated Burr Oak 79-51 in the other semifinal game.
