Sturgis won a back-and-forth boys basketball battle Friday evening at Three Rivers 62-56. Trojan junior Thomas Kurowski had a mammoth night with 40 points.
After a 15-15 first quarter, Sturgis had leads of 28-25 at halftime and 42-38 after the third quarter. The Wildcats tied the game at 48-48 midway through the fourth quarter but couldn’t get ahead.
Isaiah Moore had a double-double in defeat for Three Rivers with 20 points and 11 rebounds.
The Trojans improve to 5-3 with the victory and 2-1 within the Wolverine Conference South Division. Ahead is a non-conference home game Tuesday with Battle Creek Central.
The Wildcats drop to 4-3 and 0-2 in the division. Three Rivers hosts Gull Lake Tuesday in non-conference action.
