New Buffalo edged Howardsville Christian 48-47 in boys basketball Tuesday, keeping the Bison unbeaten within BCS White division play.
“Losing this game stung!” said Eagles head coach Justin Jergens. “We led the entire game and lost in on a final shot.”
Jason Jergens led Howardsville Christian with 25 points in defense. It stayed tight throughout with a two-point Eagle lead after the first quarter, a four-point lead at halftime, and a three-point advantage after three.
“We need to do a better job finishing games,” said coach Jergens. “Had turnovers, bad shots, and did not rebound well. We will learn from it, improve, and handle these situations better in the future.”
Howardsville Christian falls to 4-3 overall and 3-2 in divisional play. The Eagles have another league game ahead as they host Lake Michigan Catholic Friday.
New Buffalo moves to 4-1 overall and is tied with River Valley for the BCS White lead at 4-0. The Bison host Covert Friday.
