Mendon won 47-31 at Marcellus in boys basketball Friday, giving the Hornets the season sweep of the Wildcats.
“We needed this win tonight,” said Mendon coach Danny Schragg. “We came out ready to play and had a big first quarter and we never looked back.”
Mendon closes Southwest 10 Conference South Division play at 2-6 and Marcellus is 0-7 with one division game left.
“Our defensive rebounding was much better tonight, helped push the ball up the floor and get some easy baskets,” added Schragg. “We were able to get them in foul trouble early as well. Luke (Schinker) had big game for us, he has been struggling but made some shots tonight, and he also hit a big shot just inside half court at the end of the first quarter at the buzzer that really got our team excited. Solid game for us tonight.”
Mendon is 7-12 overall and plays at Bangor Tuesday. Marcellus (5-13) heads to Decatur Tuesday.
