Kalamazoo Christian was a home winner in boys basketball 60-48 against Delton Kellogg Tuesday.
“Great team victory tonight, we executed at crucial moments throughout the game,” said Comets head coach Brennan Davis. “We had great effort on the defensive end tonight which was led by our seniors.”
A 18-10 second quarter helped give K-Christian some cushion as each other quarter had a margin within one possession.
“If we rebound well we give ourselves a shot every night,” added Davis. “Delton played tough and was prepared, however we executed and hit big shots throughout the game.”
The loss drops the Panthers to 7-7 overall and 4-5 in SAC Valley play. DK travels to Constantine Thursday, which can be heard live via JoeInsider.com.
K-Christian moves to 11-4, second in the division at 7-2. The Comets host division leader Schoolcraft (9-0) Friday, which can also be heard live via JoeInsider. The Eagles would clinch the SAC Valley if they win Friday’s game.
“They handled us at their place (51-37) and we know it will be a very tough game for us to match what they bring to the table,” Davis said of Schoolcraft. “Our team will rest tonight and get back after it tomorrow. I’m proud of the way this team has taken pride on the defensive end and we will need a team effort to give ourselves a chance on Friday evening.”
