Kalamazoo Christian defeated Comstock 47-26 in boys basketball Tuesday evening. The Comets lagged initially with a scoreless first quarter, but woke up to grab a 16-13 halftime lead.
“Credit Comstock’s defense for following their scouting report and forcing us into difficult contested shots,” said K-Christian head coach Brennan Davis. “We started an abysmal 1-18 from the field, missing a significant amount of lay-ups, most of which we heavily contested.”
Brandon DeVries tallied a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds in the victory.
“We stayed with our gameplan and that was evident in the second quarter as shots began to fall,” added Davis. “I’m proud of our team for being coachable and for bouncing back with a much needed win.”
The Comets improve to 5-3 overall and are off until next Tuesday’s trip to Galesburg-Augusta. The Colts (2-4) host Berrien Springs Friday.
