Centreville boys basketball knocked off Marcellus 68-67 in overtime Friday, getting a buzzer-beating three-pointer from Dustin Schwenk for the win.
The Bulldogs had to go the length of the court with only three seconds remaining. As video from Ben Yoder on Twitter shows, the play began with Mason Lemings inbounding from the baseline. Lemings finds Sam Todd at midcourt, who flings it ahead into the corner for Schwenk.
It’s another wild finish between the Bulldogs and Wildcats, who went to double-overtime at Marcellus last season for a Wildcat victory 72-65, plus a 53-50 Bulldog home win.
Gavin Etter led all players with 31 points for Marcellus, including eight three-pointers. Full statistics were not reported by Centreville.
The Bulldogs improve to 3-3 with the win and 2-3 in Southwest 10 play. They host Decatur on Tuesday.
Marcellus falls to 4-1 overall and 3-1 in league play, putting them behind Bloomingdale and Cassopolis (both 4-0) for first in the standings. The Wildcats host Lawton Saturday if the weather allows, then travels to Hartford Tuesday.
